Fits: Toyota Hilux N70 with a factory touchscreen stereo — build years 2006 through 2013. Workmate, SR, SR5 and Rogue, single cab, extra cab and dual cab, automatic or manual, petrol or diesel.

Which Hilux Kit Do I Need?

Go by the front of the vehicle, not the plate — Toyota changed the Hilux over during 2015. A wide chrome grille bar with separate upright headlights is the N70; a deep one-piece grille with swept-back headlights is the N80.

How It Installs

The AutoChimp™ Reverse Camera Kit adds a reverse camera to your factory touchscreen with no cutting, no splicing and no dealer coding. The camera plugs directly into the factory 4-pin camera port at the rear of the head unit and takes its 6V power from the factory screen.

The included AC-TOY-28PIN interface harness installs inline behind the stereo on the factory 28-pin plug. All 28 OEM pins carry straight through it — CAN, illumination, data and audio all stay intact — so nothing else in the vehicle changes.

On most 2006–2013 Hilux the reverse trigger is already present in the factory 28-pin plug, so the harness simply plugs in and the camera switches on when you select reverse. If your vehicle does not carry that signal, the harness includes a green trigger wire and a SnapTap connector — see the Connection Guide.

Important — Leave the Pass-Through Closed

The harness has a 4-pin pass-through pair. On this kit it stays joined. The camera goes into the stereo's own 4-pin camera port, not through the harness. The pass-through pair only separates on kits where camera video feeds through the harness, such as the LandCruiser 70 Series.

Quick Start

• Mount the camera on the tray, tub, bar or bracket of your choice.
• Route the 7m power and video cable from the rear of the vehicle forward to the stereo.
• Plug the camera cable into the factory 4-pin camera port at the rear of the head unit.
• Fit the AC-TOY-28PIN harness inline on the factory 28-pin plug — connect the green wire at the fuse box only if required.
• Set image flip or guidelines if required using the camera's loop wires.

Reverse Trigger Connection (certain models only)

Only needed if your Hilux has no reverse signal in the factory 28-pin plug.

• Location: driver's side fuse box, left of the steering column.
• Find the small vertical connector in the centre of the fuse box — it carries only a few wires.
• Tap the red/white wire in that connector — this is the 12V reverse light signal.
• Join the harness green wire to it using the supplied AutoChimp™ SnapTap.
